Best Practices for Mat Placement

In order to get the best possible readings, placement of timing mats is important. Mats receive the best readings in the area shown below.


When using more mats to create a wider finish line make sure to have your mats overlap at least 30CM /1FT.



Make sure to create a clear running path that leads participants directly over the mats. Creating a guided running path (ex: barriers) is recommended. See images below. 




Do not leave running space on the sides of the mats. This will create a dead zone where participants will run off the mat and their chips will not be read.
